I just returned from quite the adventure travelling to San Francisco - give me through the weekend and I'll try to get everything posted to my travel blog so you can see all the sights, and more importantly, all the food I ate! In the meantime, here's a fun appetizer recipe for breaking out your spring grill.
6 whole fresh figs (or dried, re-hydrated in boiling water until soft)
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
2 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
Cut figs in half lengthwise, and then grill over medium flame until heated through and slightly softened, about 1 minute. Mix together honey, orange juice and lemon zest and microwave for 20 seconds until honey is warmed and then drizzle over figs. Top with blue cheese crumbles.
